JASON Panhay and Van Mapa had their best game Tuesday as they led Ceres Transport Football Club (FC) against the Talisay FC, 2-1 and arranged an exciting championship match-up against the defending champion Dynamic Builders FC on Sunday, December 11 for the 2011 Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC) 9 A-Side Football Tournament at the Ayala North Point pitch in Talisay City.

Ceres has able to secure this conference’s finals spot this time after they missed last conference championship following their loss to Real Negrense FC in the semis.
Panhay nailed Ceres’ first score in the 35th minute, just in time when the referee blew his whistle for the half-time. Panhay hit a strong strike past Talisay’s keeper and 2011 Paris Homeless World Cup campaigner Michael Rojo to put Ceres on top, 1-nil.

In the second half, the strong aggressive Ceres’ attack on Talisay’s defense paid off as Mapa hit the back of the net in the 42nd minute and gave Transport squad a convenient 2-nil advantage.

But the Talisayanons didn’t give up as they tested the Ceres’ tight interior defense with their fast and excellent passes on top of the penalty area. But Ceres’ defenders denied the passing lanes for their Talisay counterparts forcing the latter squad to take several wide shots. Also, the conditioned mental keenness of Ceres’ goalie Michael Casas has shot down many Talisay goal tries when it fortunate to get at the dangerous area.

However, with a minute in extra time, Talisay’s effort was rewarded with a goal from Julius Navales after the ball slipped off the hands of Ceres’ keeper Casas. Navales’ goal put the game closer at 2-1 with 4 minutes left in the match.

But the time wasn’t with Talisay’s side when they failed to equalize the match as the final whistle sounded ending the match.

On the other hand, Dynamic Builders FC team captain Ali Rojas Go, who also scored the winning goal against Trimaxi Agro FC in their semis match last Monday, said that they are expecting of a tough championship game against Ceres on Sunday. “We know that they will play hard and physical but we are prepared. We hold couple of practices in preparation of the Sunday’s match,” Go stressed.

“We will pour everything we have to assure that we will win this conference and hopefully to get a grand slam,” the captain said.

Dynamic, which finished the elimination with a clean 10 victories, continued its winning streak during the semis after beating Trimaxi, 5-4 in a catch breathing battle.

Eliseo Palomo opened the scoring for Dynamic in the early 24th minute of the game but the lead was short-lived as Bes dela Noche (trimaxi) nailed a quick counter in 25th minute to equalize the match, 1-all.

But John Carmona scored another goal for Dynamic a minute before the half to put the Builders on top, 2-1 at the break.

Dynamic has kept the momentum in the early action of the second half as Jason Cordova scored in the 42nd minute as Carmona nailed his second in the 46th minute to give the Builders a 4-1 lead with 26 minutes left in the game.

But Trimaxi stunned Dynamic when the former put up several aggressive attacks which tore down the defending champion’s defense and successfully hit their shots at the back of the net.

Alejandro Montelibano struck in Trimaxi’s second goal in the 52nd minute as dela Noche booked his second and his team’s third in the 57th minute to put the game closer, 3-4.

And in the 61st minute, E. Escalona successfully tied the game at 4 goals apiece which heightened the pressure in both squads.

But Go converted a 65th minute score, and eventually Dynamic’s insurance goal, which has brought Dynamic’s bench to start celebrating as they hang on until the final whistle.

“We should have finished the game with that 4-1 lead but our errors down the stretch had opened lots of opportunities to Trimaxi to score,” Go said./JSG
