ST. John’s Institute defeated the University of St. La Salle –Integrated School 69-45 to retain the LNA7 Sports Foundation 10 under category championship at the West Negros University Gym played last Sunday.
Miguel Sarmiento and Kurt Coloso scored 6 & 4 pts. respectively to lead the Baby Falcons to a 12-4 opening quarter lead.
SJI extended the lead to 30-15 at the break as Andre Lechoncito shot 8 pts. with support coming from Daniel Coo and Gelo Lacson 4 pts. apiece while USLS-IS got 8 pts. from Nathaniel Sevilla.
Coach Rey Pandoro mentored Baby Falcons continued to soar in the 3rd quarter bannered by JB Co 10 pts. and also limiting USLS_IS to 2 quarter pts. as SJI posted a commanding 46-17 lead going to the 4th quarter.
USLS-IS narrowed the gap in the final quarter as the he trio of Yuki Kamei , Sevilla and JJ Castro delivered 8, 6 and 5 pts. respectively but their effort fell short as SJI countered with 15 pts. combined from Coo and Co .
Co paced SJI with 17 pts., Coo added 12 pts., Andrei Lechoncito shot 10 pts., Kurt Coloso, Miguel Sarmiento and Kean Andrada tallied 6 pts. each.
Sevilla paced USLS-IS with 14 pts., backstopped by Kamei 12, Castro and Gavin De La Cruz 5 pts. each.
