AL S. MENDOZA
LITTLE BY LITTLE,
JINKEE LEARNS
TO COPE UP WHAT is rumor again?
It’s the opposite of fact.
I talk about rumor anew in lieu of rumors Jinkee has filed an annulment case against Manny Pacquiao.
In this country, if we say annulment, it is almost about dissolving a marriage.
If you ask me, there’s nothing new there.
I mean, with the stature of Pacquiao, anything is possible under the sun.
Left and right, Pacquiao has seen arrows shot his way.
Each time, though, he has parried them with much success.
But, of course.
Rumors hold nothing but air. They have no leg to stand on. If at all, the worst damage it can inflict on its intended victim is stomach ache.
Stomache ache for transforming the target into virtual stitches.
When you laugh a lot, you can also contract bum stomach.
For, rumors are like that. They make you laugh. Or, better, they should force you to laugh.
You don’t laugh at rumors, you suffer.
You take it seriously, you get depressed.
The latest rumor to hit Pacquiao is that his wife Jinkee has reportedly learned of a new lover for the eight-division world champion.
Of course, the rumor was immediately doused with cold water by no less than Jinkee herself.
Jinkee, used to rumors both laughable and ludicrous, quickly dismissed it as mere hearsay.
No, nothing of that sort, she had said.
No annulment case of her marriage at all.
She even killed reports that she won’t join Pacquiao in Las Vegas for the November 13 fight between Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
“Of course, I’m flying to L.A. on November 6,” she said. “I’m used to these intrigues already. It goes with the territory.”
Jinkee has even learned to play along with it.
To prove this: Only a while back, she offered a Hermes handbag to anyone who could positively identify a woman maintaining a dangerous liaison with her hubby.
It’s been months and no one has claimed his/her Hermes, which is reputedly the world’s most expensive lady’s handbag. An average model could cost no less than P1 million.
So, stop tossing in intrigues Pacquiao’s way.
The way Jinkee has been handling them, she, sure, has learned to grow up.
In short, so far, so good.
